Reverend James King owned Bristol before 1852. Mr. Joseph R. Anderson, his son-in-law, purchased 100 acres of the plantation and named it Bristol after Bristol, Connecticut. The G.W. Blackley House, one of Bristol’s oldest houses, was built in 1869.
Bristol Tennessee Parks and Recreation offers parks for residents and visitors to enjoy throughout the city. A community center, elder programs, nature center, tennis facility, aquatic center, and other amenities are available through the Department.
