Bristol Prepares for Winter Weather as Community Bands Together for Strings of Hope Fundraiser

BRISTOL BRACES FOR WINTER WEATHER

It’s that time of year again in Bristol—the season where we trade in our light jackets for thicker coats and keep an eye on the snow. As we gear up for a chilly weekend, weather reports are sending out a clear message: Brace yourselves for wind and cold!

Cold and Windy: What to Expect

This Friday is shaping up to be frigid, with temperatures hovering around 39°F. Things won’t warm up much by Saturday either, with expected highs of only 42°F. For those of you planning a weekend outing, bundle up! Windy conditions will add to the chill, making it feel even colder—so don’t forget your gloves and hats!

As if that weren’t enough, snow showers are likely to continue into early Friday. Slippery conditions are a real concern, particularly in the higher terrains. Travel cautiously and remain alert for slick spots, especially if you’re hitting the road early.

Local Fundraising Event: Strings of Hope

Bristol Faith in Action has organized a fundraising event called Strings of Hope, aimed at addressing the increasing demand for rental assistance in our area. This is no ordinary fundraiser—it’s a vibrant celebration of local art and community support!

Throughout the year, the team at Bristol Faith in Action has been busy crafting an online auction featuring unique, handcrafted stringed instruments transformed into stunning pieces of art by sixteen talented local artists. Each guitar is a striking representation of creativity mixed with purpose, and they are on display at the A Work of Art gallery on State Street.

Supporting Those in Need

The goal of this initiative? To raise a remarkable $25,000 to assist individuals and families facing financial crises. “We help people who are experiencing a financial crisis with either their housing or their essential services like electrical or water,” says DeVonne Phipps, the Executive Director at Bristol Faith in Action. She adds, “The housing costs have increased so dramatically in the last few years that the demand is really high.”

The online auction will run from December 2-14, giving everyone plenty of time to browse these one-of-a-kind pieces while supporting a crucial cause. All proceeds will remain in the area, directly funding rental assistance for those who need it most.

Join the Effort and Make a Difference!

If you’re interested in contributing to this noble cause, keep an eye out for more information on how to participate in the auction. Your involvement could help change lives right here in Bristol!

Stay Informed

As the weather takes a turn and the holidays approach, let’s not only prioritize our own comfort but also look out for our neighbors in need. Communities thrive when we come together to help one another; indeed, this spirit of support is what makes Bristol such a vibrant place to live.

So whether it’s bundling up against the cold or participating in an inspiring local event, let’s make this winter a little brighter for everyone. Remember to stay safe on the roads and stay warm this weekend!
