Johnson City Welcomes New Veteran’s Wing at Salvation Army Shelter Thanks to $10,000 Donation

Exciting News for Veterans in Johnson City!

Hey there, Johnson City! We have some heartwarming news to share that shines a bright light on our local veterans community. Thanks to a generous donation of $10,000 from The Regions Foundation of Tennessee, the Salvation Army is gaining ground on an inspiring project: a brand-new veteran’s wing at their shelter. Yes, you heard it right – our veterans are about to receive some much-deserved love and support!

A Room with a Purpose

So, what exactly is this new addition going to look like? Well, it’s going to be a 15-room sanctuary designed especially for U.S. military veterans. These rooms won’t just be any old shelters; each will feature single-occupancy accommodations with everything a veteran needs to make it feel like home. Imagine comfy beds, dressers, desks, chairs, and even personal care items waiting to welcome them.

Oh, and it gets even better! Each veteran will have their own private bathroom, which, let’s be honest, is a big deal when it comes to adding that extra touch of dignity and comfort. Plus, there will be a lovely outdoor courtyard for some fresh air and downtime – a perfect spot to relax or catch up with friends.

Making a Difference

Major RC Duskin, the Corps Officer for the Salvation Army of Johnson City, expressed how special this project is during a recent news release. He noted, “Every element of this new veteran’s wing has been designed with great intention.” His words reflect the deep thought and care that has gone into creating this safe haven. Major Duskin continued, “We aim to provide our local veterans with the privacy, dignity, and security they deserve.” Doesn’t that just warm your heart?

How You Can Help

While this generous donation is a huge step in the right direction, the Salvation Army emphasizes that additional funds are still needed to complete the veteran’s wing. If you’d like to get involved, consider making a contribution! Donations can be made easily online, or you can choose to send a check by mail to The Salvation Army, PO Box 1715, Johnson City, TN 37605. Just make sure to note “Veteran’s Wing” in the memo line so your support goes to the right place.

A Big Thank You!

As we reflect on the many sacrifices our veterans have made for our freedom, it feels fantastic to see our community rallying together to support them. A heartfelt thank you goes out to The Regions Foundation of Tennessee for their incredible generosity in helping make this vision a reality. It’s partnerships like these that can change lives!

As the plans unfold and the dreams of a new veteran’s wing get closer to reality, we can all look forward to seeing how these efforts will make a lasting impact for those who have bravely served our country. If you know a veteran or military family member, be sure to share this exciting news! Together, we can spread the word and support our heroes in the best way possible.
