UETHDA Announces Commodity Distributions for May
Good news for eligible residents of Tennessee, Upper East Tennessee Human Development Agency (UETHDA) has announced its upcoming Commodity Distributions for the month of May.
Commodity Distribution Locations and Dates
The distribution is set to take place in various locations throughout May:
- Elizabethton (Carter County), scheduled for Thursday, May 9, at Grace Baptist Church, 114 Broad St., Elizabethton.
- Mountain City (Johnson County), planned for Wednesday, May 8, at First Christian Church, located at 401 W. Main St., Mountain City.
- Johnson City (Washington County), earmarked for Thursday, May 16, at Wesley Memorial UMC, situated at 225 Princeton Road, Johnson City.
The distribution process will commence at 9:30 a.m. and expected to conclude at 12 p.m., or earlier if the food supplies are exhausted.
Drive-thru Commodity Distribution
For the safety and convenience of recipients, volunteers, and staff, the commodity distribution will be carried out through a drive-thru setup. This approach will serve income-eligible households on a first come, first served basis until all commodities are gone.
Requirements for Recipients
To be eligible for the commodity distribution, recipients must meet certain requirements. Prime among them is that recipients must be residents of Tennessee. The distribution project is funded under an agreement with the Tennessee Department of Agriculture.
Applications and Authorization
The UETHDA is encouraging all potential recipients to complete an application the week prior to the distribution date. Doing so will help reduce wait times during the distribution. However, should it be required, staff members will be available on site to accept applications on the day of the distribution.
If a recipient cannot attend the distribution, another individual may collect the commodities on their behalf. That person must be authorized on the original application first. Pickup is limited to a maximum of ten orders.
