Former President Donald Trump has taken to Truth Social in a torrent of posts claiming “fraud” following Joe Biden’s decision to not run for a second term in 2024, and demanding that money spent fighting against Biden’s candidacy should be refunded to the Republicans. In a whirlwind of accusations, Trump insisted Biden is falsely claiming to have had COVID-19 and accused the Democratic Party of thievery in the primary race.
Expanding his collection of monikers for political rivals, Trump has dubbed Vice President Kamala Harris ‘Lyin’ Kamala Harris’. Biden’s withdrawal from the race saw the Democrats quickly rally behind Harris as their new frontrunner, a move that appears to have irked the former president.
In a lengthy rant on social media, Trump voiced concerns about having to reboot his campaign due to the swift switch in Democratic leadership. He said, “So, we are forced to spend time and money on fighting Crooked Joe Biden, he polls badly after having a terrible debate, and quits the race.” He went on to question, “Shouldn’t the Republican Party be reimbursed for fraud in that everybody around Joe, including his doctors and the Fake News Media, knew he was not capable of running for, or being, President? Just askin’?”
Biden publicly supported Harris following his announcement on Sunday, where he penned a letter explaining his departure from the race was in the best interest of both the country and the Democratic party. Harris had secured enough delegate votes for the Democratic nomination just one day later, which then spurred Trump to single her out in his attacks, with much focus on her role in handling border challenges.
In Trump’s escalating tirade, he repeatedly highlighted his belief that the Biden administration has failed the nation, stating, “Joe Biden will go down as the Worst President in the history of the United States.” He further proclaimed, “KAMALA, OUR HORRIBLE & INCOMPETENT BORDER CZAR, WILL BE WORSE!”
Upon Harris announcing her presidential bid on Sunday, Trump seemed to waver on his commitment to partake in a second debate. Despite a previous agreement to engage Biden on ABC News on September 10th, Trump has expressed a desire for Fox News to facilitate the debate instead, as stipulated in a post on Truth Social.
