In the heart of Bristol, Virginia, the disco lights turned on again as adults turned back the clock to feel young again. Squashing atypical disco stereotypes, the event witnessed a unique revolving disco ball of inclusivity and pride, courtesy of TriPride.
Saturday night found the doors of the Bristol Hotel open to all, as it hosted its second annual adult prom, this year with a vibrant disco theme. TriPride, the organization behind this event, urged the attendees to don their disco-era outfits and come with a spirit ready to groove to the pulsating beats.
The prom ventured back into the golden 70s’, with the hotel’s ballroom adorned with shimmering lights reflecting from the mirror balls, invoking a sense of nostalgia. The infectious rhythm of funky disco music got everyone onto the dance floor, creating an atmosphere straight out of Saturday Night Fever.
However, this wasn’t just about the music and dancing. The event hosted a delightful spread of food and drinks, with attendees enjoying the culinary delights while reminiscing about the past. Adding cherry to the cake, free professional photos were on offer, ensuring everyone took home a piece of memory from the unforgettable night. Additionally, a silent auction took place, adding another layer of excitement to the evening.
The disco-themed prom by TriPride wasn’t just about taking a trip down memory lane, but it was a reflection of the organization’s vision for promoting inclusivity. The event was open to public in general and intended to make a statement that all are welcome, irrespective of their sexual orientations.
This is one of the many community events that TriPride undertakes every month. According to its Vice President, these community events are a way to unite people to gather, have fun and enjoy themselves. By hosting an inclusive dance at such grand scale, TriPride continues its mission of providing open and safe spaces for all with its series of monthly events.
High on the success of the disco-themed prom, TriPride enthusiasts are already looking ahead to upcoming events. The much-awaited TriPride parade and festival have already been announced and are scheduled for October 12. The entire city of Bristol is buzzing with anticipation for this event, which promises to be filled with color, pride, and a celebration of difference and acceptance.
