Thanksgiving Spirit Shines Bright in Elizabethton with 14th Annual Feast of Sharing

Thanksgiving Spirit Shines Bright in Elizabethton!

As the leaves turn and the air grows crisp, a wonderful tradition is gearing up to bring warmth and joy to the Elizabethton community once again. The First Baptist Church Elizabethton, nestled at 212 East F St., is excited to host its 14th annual Feast of Sharing this Thanksgiving Day, November 28! And the best part? It’s absolutely free and open to everyone!

Feasting Together

From 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., the Fellowship Hall will transform into a bustling hub of gratitude, where families and friends can come together to enjoy a delicious Thanksgiving meal. This year, you can expect an array of mouth-watering dishes including baked ham, cooked apples, sweet potatoes, and green beans. And, of course, there will be fresh bread and homemade desserts to satisfy your sweet tooth!

Project chair Lisa Bunn expresses her excitement: “We look forward to hosting families and neighbors at this year’s Feast of Sharing.” But wait, there’s more! If you can’t make it to the church, don’t worry! Free carry-out meals are available for those who need them by 10 a.m., and yes, deliveries are also on the menu at no cost!

How to Join the Feast

To ensure you get your meal, it’s a good idea to make a reservation. Just give the church a call at 423-543-1931. Lisa encourages everyone to reach out: “If you call and get the FBC answering machine, you can leave your name, phone number, and the number of meals you’d like. If you need delivery, just include your address!”

Do you have a group or family that would like to join? You are more than welcome! Lisa adds, “We’d also like to extend a special invitation to any work crews who are in the area helping with the aftermath of Hurricane Helene.”

Sharing More than Just a Meal

This year’s Feast of Sharing isn’t just about food; it’s also about community support. Due to the impact of Hurricane Helene, the demand for assistance has surged. The church aims to serve at least 1,500 meals this year, showing their commitment to addressing the increased needs within the community.

In a heartfelt gesture of compassion, First Baptist Church will also provide free coats for men, women, and children, along with toiletries, personal supplies, blankets, and sleeping bags for those in need. “We have offered these items before, but this year we expect the demand to be higher,” Lisa points out, underlining their mission to meet the practical needs of those affected.

Get Involved!

Feeling inspired to lend a helping hand? The Feast of Sharing is always looking for volunteers! Last year, there were over 40 volunteers from both the church and the surrounding community, and there’s always room for more. Lisa warmly invites, “If you’d like to help, please feel free to join us.”

Important Details

To make sure you don’t miss out on this wonderful event or to find out how you can volunteer or donate supplies, don’t hesitate to call First Baptist Church Elizabethton at 423-543-1931. Let’s come together as a community this Thanksgiving and spread a little love and kindness. After all, it’s about sharing and caring for each other, especially during these challenging times!
