Tesla has revealed that Warsaw, Poland, has been selected as the top-voted site for new Supercharger stations, enhancing charging access for electric vehicle owners. This milestone is part of Tesla’s ongoing efforts to expand its Supercharger network. Additionally, Tesla is working on improvements to support non-Tesla electric vehicles with better accessibility and partnerships, confirming a notable collaboration with Hyundai for future models. Meanwhile, Texas sees new Supercharging stations enhancing local infrastructure as part of the broader push for increased electric vehicle adoption.
If you’re a Tesla enthusiast, you’re in for a real treat! Tesla has just shared the results of its latest Q4 Supercharger voting round, and there’s some thrilling news on the horizon for electric vehicle owners. The anticipation has been building, and now we learn not only where the new charging stations will go, but also which locations came out on top in the voters’ eyes.
Berlin isn’t the only city that’s electrifying the roads. The top-voted site for this quarter of voting is none other than Warsaw, Poland. This winning location is now formally marked on Tesla’s Find Us page, proudly displaying a shiny gold trophy icon and the label “in development.” This means that soon Tesla drivers will have even more options for fast charging while exploring this beautiful city.
The voting period for these new Supercharger sites was opened for three months on Tesla’s website, giving Tesla fans plenty of time to cast their ballots for their preferred locations. This ongoing voting cycle for Supercharger sites was initially launched back in 2022, and it’s gaining quite the following as more drivers wish to have a say in where they can charge their vehicles.
But wait, there’s more! Throughout 2023, Tesla has been diligently enhancing its Supercharger network. Max de Zegher, the North American Charging Director, shared the company’s new goals focusing on making charging more accessible—even for non-Tesla electric vehicles. Step by step, improvements are coming to ensure everyone can share in the joy of seamless recharging.
Big changes on the horizon include more accurate stall availability, longer Supercharging cables, station modifications to better handle non-Tesla EVs, and encouraging car manufacturers to design vehicles with charging ports in optimal locations. These efforts make it clear that the electric vehicle community is growing. Excitingly, we’ve even heard about a partnership with Hyundai, confirming that the 2025 Ioniq 5 will come equipped with a native NACS charging port that works with Tesla Superchargers. This marks a significant shift, allowing more vehicles to use Tesla’s robust charging infrastructure.
What’s even more remarkable is how Tesla identified potential locations for these stations by reaching out to the local city officials. The Llano Supercharger, for instance, is located in the parking lot of a charming shop called Possibilities. Meanwhile, the Johnson City charging station is conveniently indexed at a Lowe’s store. A great win-win partnership that doesn’t involve any payments exchanged, just a simple agreement to host these vital facilities.
The store owner at Possibilities happily noted the positive impact these Supercharger stations have on local business. As Tesla drivers recharge, they often make some purchases. One excited driver reportedly spent around $500 while charging! It’s clear that these stations not only benefit Tesla drivers but also empower local businesses.
In Texas, there’s a growing infrastructure to support electric vehicles. Currently, there are 77 Superchargers across the state, with more installations on the way. The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is actively pushing for more charging stations under its Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Plan. With over 129,000 registered electric vehicles in Texas—triple the number since 2020—the state is well on its way to achieving an impressive target of 1 million registered EVs by 2028.
With federal funding of $407.8 million allocated for the growth of electric vehicle charging infrastructure in the state between 2022 and 2026, it’s safe to say that the future for Tesla drivers and electric vehicle owners looks brighter than ever!
