In a development that adds a new twist to business diversity in Gate City, Virginia, Grizzly Tattoo has officially opened its doors to the public. The tattoo shop, owned by Hunter and Lucy Smith, saw its grand opening on Tuesday celebrated with a joyous ribbon cutting ceremony hosted by the Scott County Chamber of Commerce.
Grizzly Tattoo didn’t simply spring up overnight – the enterprise is the fruit of many months of effort and years of dedication to the art of tattooing. Hunter Smith has been passionate about art and music from a young age and spent years learning the trade as an apprentice in various tattoo shops in the region. His experiences eventually fueled his drive to start his own business and fulfill his dreams.
As a Gate City High School graduate, Hunter decided to set up shop and bring his business back to his beloved hometown. It’s a place where, in his own words, he loves what he does and having the space to do it. He specializes in American traditional and Japanese traditional tattoo art and aspires to aid in changing the public’s perception of tattoos.
While discussing his vision for Grizzly Tattoo with attendees at the grand opening, Hunter embraced the dual nature of public opinion about tattoos. He acknowledged that “there are some who love it, and some who don’t,” and mentioned how his primary goal with this new business would be doing his part to help modify that perception locally.
Hunter finds great joy in creating art, particularly when it provides his livelihood. Monster Art & Tattoo Supply Store owner hopes that his business could inspire youngsters in the community to consider embracing the arts with freedom and passion.
Belief in the value of artistic expression wasn’t limited to Hunter. The mayor of Gate City, Jamie Lawson, was present at the ribbon cutting and proudly expressed his support for the new business and its mission, celebrating the versatility it brings to the local business sector.
Hunter and Lucy Smith were honored with a 90-day membership by the Scott County Chamber of Commerce as part of the grand opening ceremony. Grizzly Tattoo is now ready to welcome tattoo enthusiasts and art lovers at its location on 119 Municipal Avenue, Gate City. More information about the business and its services can be found on the official Grizzly Tattoo Facebook page.
The era of increased acceptance towards tattoos as a form of body art is here. Gate City, being part of this cultural shift, welcomes this new player in the tattoo industry with even more enthusiasm. The opening of Grizzly Tattoo might be a small step for the city, but it’s undoubtedly a significant leap toward a city bustling with more diverse arts and culture.
