Sullivan County Public Library Enriching the Community with a Packed Agenda (March 3-9)

In a stimulating effort to cater to the community’s varied interests, the Sullivan County Public Library is all set to organize a series of events between March 3 and March 9 at its five different locations.

Inclusive Initiatives and Digital Services

Be it for the need of tax assistance, educational classes, or even a remote library experience, the Sullivan County Public Library is creating an inclusive ambience for all. While the library and other county offices will be closed on Tuesday due to the primary election, the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance, especially aimed at those earning under $60,000 per year, continues at the Blountville branch. Appointments are actively being scheduled through April 12. Patrons unable to visit the Sullivan Gardens branch can now take advantage of the remote pick up and drop off services available at the Dollar General in Fall Branch every Thursday.

In addition to these, the library consistently updates community members about events and other important updates through their social media platforms. Patrons can also access library materials online using their SCPL library cards through the Libby and Hoopla apps.

Engaging Children and Teens

The library is ensuring that its young patrons have access to a plethora of programmes designed to broaden their horizons and cater to their creative instincts. Preschool Storytimes and After School Story Time offer various themed picture books seeing to it that no child misses the fun. History with Daniel, a part of the Explore the Topics with Daniel series, gives children aged 8-12 the chance to delve into different cultural and historical themes every week. In addition, interactive practical sessions such as Guided Lego Club and Art with Mr. Daniel sessions are also on the schedule.

Family Programs

The roster of events offers a wide range of programs targeting different age groups and interests. To harness and encourage creativity, an All Ages and Abilities Coloring Party is scheduled for Wednesday, while American Sign Language learning sessions are being organized every Wednesday. The Saturday Matinee at the Blountville branch will screen the animated movie “Secret of the Kells” on March 9. Aspiring bakers can take part in the Great Blountville Bake Show that will be held on March 14.

Programs for Adults

In addition to fitness events such as Geri-Fit and Chair Yoga with Noah, the Blountville branch also hosts the Knit/Crochet Club, where individuals can share patterns and ideas. Seniors living alone can attend the Security Tips for Seniors session on Monday, March 11, where police officer Lt. McConnell will provide safety advice.

Embroidering a culture of learning and camaraderie, the Sullivan County Public Library branches, with their enriching programs, seek to serve the community and cater to their diverse interests.
