2024 Spring Tree Planting Event in Carter County Calls for Volunteers

The city of Carter County is gearing up for its annual spring tree planting event scheduled for the 13th of April, 2024. Keep Carter County Beautiful alongside Elizabethton Parks & Recreation Department are inviting volunteers to contribute their time and effort towards improving the local environment and potentially leaving an enduring legacy for the future generations.

A Date with Nature

Beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday, locals as well as civic-minded residents from neighbouring areas are encouraged to converge at Kiwanis Park, specifically located at the intersection of Hunter Avenue and West G Street. This will serve as the primary meeting point for all those participating. For ease of access, parking facilities will be available on Hunter Avenue.

What Volunteers Should Bring

It is requested that participants come equipped with gardening shovels, rakes, gloves, and drinking water. For those unable to bring these items, gloves and water will nonetheless be furnished at the event. In order to facilitate easy movement and anticipated physical exertion, dressing suitably for outdoor activities is strongly recommended.

Planting Local Trees for a Greener Carter County

The initiative aims to plant approximately 7-8 trees each at Riverside Park and Kiwanis Park. The groundwork for plantation, including the digging of holes for the saplings, will be done prior to the event. The availability of indigenous tree varieties like Red Bud, Dogwood, and Service Berry, courtesy of Mills Greenhouse, means that the flora at the parks will be region-specific and environment-friendly.

How to Participate

People interested in becoming part of the effort for a cleaner and visually more pleasing Carter County are advised to visit Keep Carter County Beautiful official website. The webpage has a special section devoted to the event, with specific details about the location, timing, and ways to contribute.

Let’s Set Roots for the Future Together!

Let’s rally together for this noble cause. Your little contribution today can potentially ensure a greener Carter County for the generations to come. Not only does planting trees garnish the natural aesthetic of our county, but it also combats climate change on a local level. A significant rise in the number of trees will contribute towards improved air quality, reduction in pollution, conservation of water, and preservation of soil.
