Shower Facilities Available for Hurricane Helene Victims in Kingsport

Shower Facilities Open for Those Affected by Hurricane Helene in Kingsport

The lovely city of Kingsport is stepping up to support its community in the wake of Hurricane Helene, which has affected many residents with power outages and flooding. This week, the Kingsport Aquatic Center and the Greater Kingsport Family YMCA are opening their doors to provide shower facilities for anyone who needs them.

Keep Clean and Stay Comfortable

It’s been a tough few days out there for many folks in the area. With homes without electricity and some even experiencing flooding, having a warm shower can make a world of difference. Fortunately, both the Aquatic Center and YMCA have stepped in to help out in a big way.

The Aquatic Center boasts an impressive setup with four family restrooms, eight men’s showers, and seven women’s showers. This means plenty of space for everyone to get clean and feel refreshed. Not only that, but they also have phone charging stations and water bottle refill stations on-site. So, while you’re getting a shower, you can also recharge your devices and stay hydrated.

The Greater Kingsport Family YMCA is also lending a hand with its 14 showers, which are available for community members needing a clean-up. Like the Aquatic Center, the YMCA is equipped with charging stations and water refill options too.

Open Hours for Convenience

If you’re wondering when you can pop by for a shower, here’s the scoop! The Aquatic Center is open:

  • Monday through Friday: 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Saturday: 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Sunday: Noon to 6 p.m.

And for those planning to visit the YMCA, their hours are:

  • Monday through Friday: 5 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Saturday: 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Sunday: Noon to 4 p.m.

A Community Response

The response from the Aquatic Center and YMCA is a wonderful reminder of the community spirit that exists here in Kingsport. During challenging times, these facilities become more than just places for exercise or leisure; they turn into hubs of support and comfort where families can gather and start to regain a sense of normalcy.

Spread the Word

If you know someone who’s been struggling with the effects of Hurricane Helene, don’t hesitate to let them know about these generous offerings. Everyone deserves to feel clean and comfortable, and this is a great opportunity for those in need of some self-care.

How to Stay Informed

Keep an ear out for updates from local sources as the situation evolves. Whether you’re seeking support or looking to lend a hand, there’s always a way to engage and assist your fellow community members. Together, Kingsport will come through this challenging time stronger than ever.
