It’s that magical time of year again in Johnson City, Tennessee! The air is crisp, the lights are twinkling, and the spirit of giving is alive and well. The Johnson City Police Department (JCPD) is thrilled to announce their 10th Annual Shop with a Cop event, happening this coming Wednesday. This beloved initiative has been bringing smiles and holiday cheer to local children and their families for years, and 2024 is shaping up to be no different!
This heartwarming event teams up law enforcement officers with elementary school students who may be facing some challenges. A whopping nearly 90 children will have the chance to enjoy an evening filled with food, fun, and some much-needed holiday shopping. The evening kicks off with a cozy dinner at the Wild Wing Cafe, where kids will be able to enjoy some delicious food with their police officer partners. What a great way to break the ice!
After filling their bellies, it’s time for some festive sightseeing at the Candy Land Christmas trees in Founders Park. Picture colorful lights, whimsical decorations, and laughter filling the air—what’s not to love?
Once the festive spirit is in full swing, it’s off to Walmart on Browns Mill Road for the main event: holiday shopping! Each child will have a chance to pick out gifts for their loved ones with the help of an officer. It’s a fantastic way for kids to experience the joy of giving while creating lasting bonds with their local heroes.
And that’s not all! The JCPD is dedicated to lifting up families in need beyond just the shopping spree. This year, they’ll be distributing 88 food boxes and 136 protein vouchers to those who could use a little extra help this holiday season. It’s a comprehensive approach to ensuring that families feel supported and cared for during this time of year.
With so many great things happening, this event promises to be a highlight of the holiday season for everyone involved. A big thank you goes out to the JCPD for their continued commitment to supporting the youth and families in Johnson City. Here’s to another unforgettable year of Shop with a Cop!
