RACE WEEK: Take a Trip Back in Time with This Weekend’s Races
In an exciting twist to the traditional line-ups, car racing enthusiasts can expect a blast from the past this year as the Bristol Motor Speedway goes retro for the Food City 500 races.
The Throwback Experience
Get ready to hop into a time machine and journey back to the early nineties at this year’s Food City 500. This year, the Speedway is implementing a series of changes designed to take fans on a nostalgia-filled trip down memory lane. The Speedway will be sporting the iconic red and white walls from its 1992 look, a visual element synonymous with the glory days of racing in the region.
And that’s not all – this year also marks the return of NASCAR to its roots. After years of mixed reviews, the giant in car racing will be returning to concrete instead of dirt. This is expected to give the racers an experience similar to the one back in the days, with the organizers looking forward to recreating the much-loved atmosphere of early-nineties car racing.
Vintage Logos and Entertainment
Apart from taking a visual trip back in time, fans attending the Food City 500 will be noticing the incorporation of the vintage race logo. In line with the overall throwback theme, the logo highlights the time when Food City became the title sponsor for the Bristol Spring race – a landmark moment that took place 33 years ago.
Adding another touch of nostalgia, the eighties throwback band Spank will be performing to enthrall the audience. The band will, no doubt, stir up reminders of the history of the Last Great Colosseum.
