Recent Arrests in Carter County Keep Deputies Busy

In the charming town of Elizabethton, the Carter County Sheriff’s Office has been quite busy lately, with several arrests reported over the past week. Let’s dive into some of the noteworthy incidents that have kept local law enforcement on their toes!

Unlawful Possession of a Firearm

On November 17, things took a serious turn when Deputy Thomas Hill and Sgt. Cory Locklear encountered Randy R. Canter on Short Coal Chute Road. Canter, who has a prior felony conviction, was arrested for unlawful possession of a firearm. He openly admitted to having a shotgun in his possession. Subsequently, the firearm and ammunition were confiscated as evidence, and Canter was taken to the Carter County Detention Center.

Failure to Appear Cases

The very next day, on November 18, law enforcement officials were again on the move. David Tyler Livingston was found at a residence on Commodore Avenue and arrested for failure to appear in a felony case. Fortunately, his arrest was conducted without any hiccups, and he was promptly transported to the detention center.

On the same day, Deputy Robbie Huskins apprehended Shane Raymond Taylor for a probation violation at another Commodore Avenue home. Taylor also made the trip to the Carter County Detention Center without any fuss.

A Peculiar Turn of Events

As if the situation couldn’t get more interesting, later that day, Randy Keith Burrow decided to turn himself in for a failure to appear in a misdemeanor case at the detention center. Lt. Justin Burchfield expertly processed the arrest.

Hide and Seek Takes a Turn

Things turned strange again on that same day when Deranda Marie Fair was found hiding in a camper on Anderson Road. After initially pretending to have health issues, she was medically cleared before being escorted to the detention center.

More Failures to Appear

November 18 wasn’t done yet! Matthew Hunter Hudson was nabbed at Sinking Creek Baptist Church for failure to appear in a felony case, making it a rather eventful day for deputies.

Trespassing Trouble

Fast forward to November 19, where Deputy Jared Shelton arrested Jennifer Michelle Russell for criminal trespassing at a location on Highway 321 in Hampton. Russell was already on the no-trespass list from an earlier incident on November 7. She attempted to run from officers but was successfully apprehended.

Domestic Assault Incident

One of the most alarming incidents took place on the same day when Bethany Anne Chapman was arrested for aggravated assault (domestic). In an unfortunate dispute with her mother, Chapman struck her with hot grease and a sharp object. She was swiftly taken into custody and transported to the detention center.

Continuous Violations

As the week progressed, probation violations continued to be a recurring theme. Virginia Grace Craig was arrested on two counts of probation violation on November 19 at the Washington County Detention Center.

More Arrests on the Horizon

On November 20, Dakota Shane Nicholson was apprehended at the Monroe County Jail for another failure to appear in a misdemeanor case. Following that, on November 21, the sheriff’s office reported two more arrests for failure to appear, involving Amy Ericka Arnett and Jeremy Michael Hatley, the latter facing a hefty bond of $25,000!

Presumption of Innocence Remains
