Sponsor Our ArticlesIn a troubling incident at Johnson City Medical Center, nurse Charlotte Nangca has been charged with attempted fraud and identity theft. The accusations follow a victim’s report of unauthorized transactions exceeding $1,000 on her debit card. Investigations confirmed Nangca’s involvement, resulting in her dismissal from the hospital and a police report. The community grapples with the shock of a trusted healthcare professional committing such acts, while the hospital vows to maintain trust and integrity within their team.
In a turn of events that has left the community in disbelief, a nurse working at the Johnson City Medical Center is facing serious charges. Charlotte Nangca, a nurse, has been accused of attempted fraudulent use of a debit/credit card and identity theft, following an investigation led by the Johnson City Police Department.
The drama began when a victim reported suspicious activity on her debit card that had taken place between the 20th and 21st of January. To the victim’s shock, her card was used at well-known retailers such as American Eagle and Zara, as well as for services from DoorDash and Uber, racking up a staggering total of $1,086 before the fraud was discovered. Alarm bells rang when the victim was alerted by her bank that transactions were linked to none other than Chloe’s name.
Subsequent investigations revealed that Nangca had indeed attempted to use the victim’s card. One transaction at American Eagle was successfully processed before the bank was able to intervene and cancel any further transactions. The situation escalated quickly, and a written confession from Nangca was later secured by an investigator, confirming her involvement in the crime.
After hearing about the allegations on January 22, Ballad Health, the parent company of the Johnson City Medical Center, acted swiftly. They promptly reported the incident to the police and opened an internal investigation to get to the bottom of the situation. The hospital made it clear that theft from a patient is utterly unacceptable and a major violation of trust.
In their statement, the hospital emphasized that the individual involved was acting alone and confirmed that Charlotte Nangca is no longer employed at the facility. They also assured the public that they are fully cooperating with law enforcement to ensure that justice is served.
Interestingly, upon her hiring, Charlotte Nangca held a clear and unrestricted nursing license without any prior disciplinary actions reported by any state licensing board. This has raised eyebrows in the community, as her actions have shocked not just her colleagues but also the patients who trusted her care.
Ballad Health has announced their intention to pursue all possible legal avenues following this incident, which includes reporting Nangca’s conduct to her professional regulatory board. They aim to uphold the integrity and trust inherent in the healthcare profession, and many community members are undoubtedly thankful for their decisive actions.
As news of this incident spreads throughout Johnson City, the community is left grappling with a sense of betrayal. Many are expressing disbelief that a healthcare professional, someone typically seen as a pillar of trust and aid, could commit such a breach of ethics. The compassionate work done by the majority of nurses and healthcare staff will undoubtedly shine through, but this incident has cast a shadow that will take time to lift.
As the investigation continues and the legal proceedings unfold, the community can only hope that justice will prevail and that measures will be put in place to prevent such incidents in the future.
