Located in the heart of Southwest Virginia, Nicewonder Farm & Vineyards is quickly becoming a must-visit destination for both locals and tourists alike. Recently, we had the chance to take a delightful tour of this beautiful property, and let me tell you, it’s nothing short of magical!
As we stepped onto the grounds, the first thing that caught our eye was the breathtaking scenery all around us. With rolling hills, lush vineyards, and a charming farmhouse, it felt like stepping into a postcard. We were welcomed by the friendly staff who instantly made us feel at home. This place is not just a vineyard; it’s an entire experience!
Our first stop was The Tasting Room, where Chuck James gave us a personal tour. He enthusiastically shared the secrets behind their world-class wines, crafted with grapes grown right on the property. Did you know that Nicewonder’s vineyards are home to rare varieties that you can hardly find anywhere else? We got to taste a few samples, and let me tell you, each sip was a delightful surprise! The flavors were rich and complex, truly showcasing the passion and hard work that go into every bottle.
Next, we made our way to Hickory, the onsite restaurant located at the Inn at Nicewonder Farm. Chefs Travis Milton and Andrew Stafford were busy preparing a special menu that highlights locally sourced ingredients. During our chat with them, they shared their commitment to community and their collaboration with World Central Kitchen. It’s amazing to see how they’re using their culinary skills to help flood-affected areas in our region by providing warm meals.
The meal we tried was nothing short of exceptional! The flavors were not just an explosion on the palate, but every dish was beautifully presented, making it a feast for the eyes as well. Trust me, a visit to Hickory is worth every bite.
But that’s not all! If you’re looking for some fun after your meal, the Virginian Golf Club and the tennis and pickleball courts nearby offer plenty of opportunities to unwind. Jim Blackmore, the Director of Golf, and David Poole, the Director of Tennis & Pickleball shared about the fantastic experiences available for visitors. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or a beginner, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Imagine spending a sunny afternoon playing your favorite sport surrounded by the stunning backdrop of Virginia’s hills!
As our visit concluded, we couldn’t help but feel grateful for the warm hospitality from everyone at Nicewonder Farm & Vineyards. This place truly embodies the spirit of community in Southwest Virginia, making it an ideal spot for friends and families to gather, relax, and create lasting memories.
If you’re planning a getaway or simply want to indulge in some local flavors, make sure to add Nicewonder Farm & Vineyards to your list. Whether you’re enjoying a glass of wine, savoring a meal at Hickory, or hitting the golf course, you’re bound to have a fantastic time. Remember, a visit here isn’t just about the food and drink; it’s an invitation to experience the rich beauty of Virginia’s countryside. Cheers to new adventures!
