New Weight Loss Clinic Proposed for Former Mendota Medical Site
Mendota, Virginia is on the verge of welcoming a new weight loss clinic to the community. The Washington County Planning Commission has given a thumbs up to a plan that will transform the old Mendota health clinic into a brand-new center focusing on weight loss.
Eva Beaule, a representative from About Face Aesthetics and Skin Care, LLC, shared the exciting details during the commission’s meeting on July 24. Beaule, who has deep roots in Mendota and previously ran a kayaking company, is thrilled about this new venture.
“They want to use this as a weight loss clinic,” said Steven Richardson, the county’s zoning official. “We’ve got parking all sorted since it was previously a medical clinic, making it an ideal setup for this purpose.” The clinic, set to operate on Thursdays and Saturdays, will initially employ two to three people.
Located adjacent to the Mendota Community Center—once Hamilton Elementary School—the clinic has openly been welcomed by the Mendota Community Association. Beaule revealed that the unanimous decision was made to have About Face take over the location. “A nurse practitioner who previously worked at the clinic approached me with the idea,” Beaule said.
With overflowing offices in Bristol, Beaule saw this as a chance to expand and ease the burden. “Her business is thriving, and this will help take some pressure off,” she added. Commissioners were very supportive, and Commissioner Christina Rehfuss couldn’t hide her enthusiasm. “I’m very excited that we’re actually going to have something happening in that building,” she said. “And I might just be giving her a call.”
As part of their plans, About Face aims to spruce up the clinic’s exterior by pruning plans and planting flowers, aiming to create an inviting and beautiful space. “We like to have a pretty area,” Beaule noted enthusiastically.
The Washington County Board of Supervisors is set to consider the proposal on August 13. If all goes according to plan, the community can expect new health resources coming soon.
