Summer is in full swing in Kingsport, Tennessee, and there’s nothing quite like a sweet scoop of ice cream to keep you cool! Two brand new ice cream shops have recently opened their doors, offering a delightful mix of flavors and treats sure to make anyone’s day a little brighter.
First up is The Golden Cone, a homemade ice cream shop that just took its place inside Chef’s Pizzeria at 245 West New Street. This new gem is the brainchild of local couple Lauren and Josh McCartt, and they are excited to bring some extra sweetness to the downtown area.
At The Golden Cone, there’s a fantastic selection of treats to choose from. You can scoop your favorite flavor into a bowl or cone, or perhaps indulge in a float or a sundae. Top it all off with sprinkles or M&Ms for that extra pizzazz! Right now, The Golden Cone features ten delicious flavors: Vanilla, Chocolate, Strawberry, Cookies and Cream, Tucker Tracks, Mint Chocolate, Banana Pudding, Espresso, and Caramel. With such a variety, everyone is bound to find something they love!
The quirky name “The Golden Cone” actually has a sweet backstory, inspired by their adorable 2-year-old golden retriever named Tucker. Cute, right?! Lauren believes that adding ice cream to their pizza menu is a match made in heaven, creating the perfect combination that families and friends will love when they visit.
With the warm weather rolling in, business has been heating up and the McCartts are eager to share their new venture with the community. The Golden Cone is open from Monday to Friday from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM, Saturday from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and closed on Sundays. So grab your family and take a trip down to try those tasty treats!
If you’re on the hunt for even more ice cream options, George Creamery has also just opened its doors in nearby Colonial Heights on Friday. Located at 4032 Fort Henry Drive, this shop specializes in Blue Bell ice cream, which many consider the crème de la crème of ice cream. Talk about a treat for your taste buds!
At George Creamery, the choices are downright impressive with more than 24 different flavors to tantalize your palate. Along with classic scoops, you can enjoy banana splits, shakes, sundaes, and seasonal treats. The owner, Chris George, is committed to providing top-of-the-line products exclusively from Blue Bell to cater to ice cream aficionados. It’s the perfect place to satisfy all your creamy cravings!
Whether you’re a fan of classic scoops or enjoy trying something new, Kingsport’s ice cream scene is definitely on the rise. So gather your friends and family, head out to these amazing new shops, and treat yourself to something sweet this summer. Happy indulging!
