Labor Day Weekend Fun at Lake View Dock and Steele Creek Park

Bristol, Tenn.— With fall just around the corner, Labor Day weekend marks one of the last opportunities for folks to relish the summer sunshine. And where better to do it than at Lake View Dock in Sullivan County and Steele Creek Park? These hotspots are gearing up for a bustling holiday weekend full of family, food, and plenty of water-based fun.

Joe Slagle, who manages Lake View Dock, is brimming with anticipation for the turnout this weekend. “It’s usually a very busy Labor Day weekend,” he shared. “There’s a lot of people planning their weekend around coming to the lake, so that’s the kinda thing we look forward to.”

The Lake View staff has been working tirelessly to ensure everything is in tip-top shape. Families are eagerly making plans to celebrate the season’s final days by soaking up the sun and splashing in the lake. One local, Chris Arnold, couldn’t hide his excitement. “It is kinda like the end of summer. We are excited to hang out with friends and family. We’ve got a huge group coming out to do some lake day stuff, to do some tubing with the boys and that sort of thing.”

Kids, too, are thrilled about the upcoming festivities, chiming in with their simple but enthusiastic plans. “Eating spicy stuff,” one child shouted. Another eagerly added, “Jumping off the cliff!”

If lake activities aren’t your style, another fantastic spot to celebrate Labor Day weekend is none other than Steele Creek Park in Bristol, Tennessee. This park has always been a favorite for family gatherings, and this year is no exception. Felicia Newton, Lindsey Bowers, and Curstyn Carr have traveled back to Bristol for their annual family reunion, and they couldn’t be happier about it.

“I grew up in this area, moved to North Carolina, and we come back here every year for Labor Day weekend for a family reunion,” Felicia Newton said.

“Just being with my family, with my children not in school, and getting to play in the splash pad, and be out in the sun,” added Lindsey Bowers.

Curstyn Carr also shared her sentiments. “Just being able to be with family, this weekend even though we are in North Carolina, we still call this home.”

Many attendees echoed similar feelings, all excited to enjoy the holiday weekend in Bristol with their nearest and dearest. The holiday promises to be memorable, full of warm reunions and sunny adventures.

For those headed to Lake View Dock or Steele Creek Park, here’s to a weekend brimming with memories—whether it’s tubing on the lake or simply basking in the sun with loved ones. Don’t miss this perfect chance to cap off summer with joy, laughter, and plenty of outdoor fun!
