Kingsport Public Library Prepares for a Week Full of Events

City residents gather your week planners, the Kingsport Public Library is gearing up for an exciting week filled with a host of activities and events to appeal to every age group, enriching all corners of the community. From Lego Club for kids to Genealogy Club for adults, there is something for everyone at the library from March 3 to March 9.

Children’s Activities

Despite the absence of Preschool Storytime this week due to the election on March 5, the library is offering various other activities for children. Lego Club, designed for children from Kindergarten through 5th grade, convenes on Monday at 4 p.m. The session incorporates a fun Lego building challenge held in the library auditorium every month.

Lapsit Storytime is scheduled for Thursday at 9:30 a.m. in the library’s auditorium. This activity is devised for infants through 24 months and their parents or caregivers, offering a cozy and educational experience.

Time for Two’s Storytime, tailored for children ages 2-3 and their parent or caregiver, is slated for Thursday at 10:30 a.m. Likewise, this event will occur in the library’s auditorium.

The library has also arranged an American Sign Language Storytime to be held on Saturday, March 9, at 10 a.m. This Storytime will include a guest using American Sign Language during the program.

Teen Programs

An enticing event named ‘Teen Art Studio’ waits for all the young artists in town. The activity is scheduled to take place on Thursday at 4 p.m. in the library auditorium. If you are a teen with a flair for art and interested in showcasing your work in our tiny art show, you can get your own tiny canvas and learn some painting techniques at this event.

Adult Engagements

The adults are not left behind in the library’s eventful plan for the upcoming week. The Genealogy Club will meet on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the library. Whether you are researching your family’s history or wish to embark on a genealogy journey, join the club for enlightening discussions and research support. The group is open to all ages and all experience levels.

The Green and Growing program series commences on Thursday at noon where Joseph Gorman will assist you in learning about germination techniques. This program is a collaboration with Keep Kingsport Beautiful and the Kingsport Public Library.

‘Dune: Part One’ Watch Party is scheduled for Saturday, March 9, at 2 p.m. Adults are heartily invited to the Kingsport Public Library to enjoy this free movie screening. Popcorn will be provided for all patrons to enhance the movie-watching experience.
