Hunger First in Kingsport Faces Food Shortage Due to Rising Prices, Seeks Donations

– In the lively city of Kingsport, a not so lively situation is emerging. Hunger First, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing food to the disadvantaged, reports dwindling supplies amidst rising food prices.

The Crisis Unfolds: Rising Prices and Increased Demand

The organization, a beacon of hope for the homeless and those in financial distress in Kingsport, is experiencing a drastic shortage of supplies due to escalating food prices and increased demand for sustenance. This unfortunate circumstance comes at a time when the need for their services is more critical than ever.

Hunger First’s Mission: Serving Nearly 300 People Each Month

Hunger First endeavors to provide food to almost 300 people each month. The organization’s mandate aligns with their name: the alleviation of hunger takes center-stage in their philanthropic efforts. However, the recent surge in food prices and a noticeable increase in demand for their services has impeded the fulfillment of their usually attainable monthly goal.

Seeking Donations to Bridge the Gap

Due to the organization’s precarious situation, Hunger First has put out a call for financial support from the Kingsport community and beyond. “Donations of any amount will be accepted to help our mission.” says Executive Director, Michael Gillis. “We’ve seen an uptick of course as of late with food prices and everything going up so it’s really a monthly need honestly with that, and we try to encourage and empower them to donate bi-weekly, some weekly but others bi-weekly when they can.”

More Than Just Monetary Assistance

In addition to financial aid, the organization is also welcoming donations of food and clothing. This tangible assistance is equally valuable in helping fulfill their mission. Hunger First believes that by providing food, clothing, and other essential supplies, they can empower and uplift those under their care, fostering a sense of community, resilience, and hope amidst adversity.
