Johnson City Celebrates Veterans with Heartfelt Ceremony at ETSU

Johnson City Honors Veterans with Special Ceremony

On a crisp afternoon in Johnson City, Tennessee, the community comes together to honor its heroes. East Tennessee State University (ETSU) is gearing up for its highly anticipated annual Veterans Day ceremony, set to take place on Friday.

Details of the Event

The ceremony, scheduled to begin at 3:45 p.m., will unfold at the Veterans Memorial on the campus of ETSU. This heartfelt event aims to honor all military veterans, including those who are part of the ETSU family, including students, staff, and faculty members. It’s a moment not just for recognition but for community bonding and appreciation of those who have served our nation.

Special Guests and Activities

Participating in the ceremony will be ETSU President Dr. Brian Noland, who will address the audience and share his thoughts on the importance of honoring our veterans. In addition, there will be remarks from Col. Matthew Skaggs from the U.S. Army Futures Command. These speeches are expected to resonate deeply with those in attendance, reminding everyone of the sacrifices made by our servicemen and women.

Alongside the speeches, attendees can look forward to performances from the ETSU ROTC and the Color Guard, adding a festive and respectful air to the proceedings. Music and various tributes will further enrich the experience, creating a space where stories can be shared, and memories can be made.

A Special Invitation

After the formalities of the ceremony wrap up, the festivities don’t end there! From 5-7 p.m., all veterans and military service members are warmly invited to enjoy a free dinner at the ETSU Dining Hall. This is a lovely opportunity for veterans to gather, share a meal, and connect with one another in a relaxed and welcoming environment.

For those who would like to partake in the dinner, meal tickets can be obtained from various locations on campus. It’s a straightforward process designed to ensure that no veteran misses out on this delightful meal and camaraderie. If anyone needs accommodations for disabilities, the team at the ETSU Office of Disability Services is already preparing to assist. They encourage individuals to reach out at 423-439-8346.

Appreciation and Unity

The Veterans Day ceremony at ETSU serves as a reminder of the significance of community and gratitude. It’s a chance for everyone—students, faculty, and the public—to show their support and appreciation for the valiant efforts of our military personnel.

So mark your calendars! This Friday promises to be a day of remembrance, respect, and reconnection for all veterans and those who want to express their gratitude. It’s a perfect opportunity to say thank you, reflect on the sacrifices made, and celebrate our heroes.

Whether you’re a veteran, a student, or a local resident, the ceremony at ETSU is a chance to come together, share stories, and honor those who have given so much for our country. Let’s all do our part to ensure that our veterans know how much they are valued!
