Authorities arrest Johnson City man on weapons charges

Arrest Details

A 45-year-old man from Johnson City in Washington County, Tennessee has found himself in custody over multiple weapons charges. Daniel Thomas Workman was pulled over by deputies for a perceived seatbelt violation, after which a series of unfortunate revelations came to light.

Workman was subjected to a background check, revealing that he was currently on supervised release status with probation. Making matters worse, there was also a fully extraditable warrant for his arrest out from the U.S. Marshals Service.

Recovery of Prohibited Arms

After his arrest, deputies conducted a search of Workman’s vehicle, revealing items that further incriminated him in various crimes. In his possession within a backpack, deputies found a loaded 9mm handgun carrying a 15-round magazine. There was an additional loaded 15-round magazine in the backpack as well. Furthermore, other unlawful items like a glass bowl with residue and golden brass knuckles were discovered.

Past Criminal History

Workman is no stranger to the justice system. In 2016, he was arrested and charged with a serious amphetamine charge. The consequences of this conviction resulted in a six-year spell in prison along with four years of supervised release. In addition, he was charged and sentenced to an additional six years for his role in a conspiracy to distribute controlled substances.

Transportated to Hospital

Upon arriving at the Washington County Detention Center, Workman reportedly experienced “dizziness” in the booking area. Fearing potential health risks, the custodians decided it would be best to transport him to a local hospital for treatment. Throughout his stay at the medical facility, a deputy kept a watchful eye on him.

Once Workman was deemed medically fit to leave the hospital on May 11, deputies took him back to the detention center to complete the booking process. He is currently in custody under a detainer from the U.S. Marshals Service.

Court Appearance

Workman is set to appear in court on the new charges on Monday in Washington County. The situation is unfolding and further information will be provided as soon as it becomes available.
