Elizabethton is buzzing with preparations for a grand 4th of July celebration. Organized by the Elizabethton Parks and Recreation Department, the event will kick off at 4 p.m. at the popular Covered Bridge Park and will conclude with a spectacular fireworks show.
The day promises a host of fun-filled activities and mouthwatering food options from renowned food trucks. Good Karma Kettle Corn, Fire Pizza, Side Show Station, the Cardinal Kitchen, Crave Hot Dogs & BBQ, Beba’s Rolling Meatball, Tin Can Diner, and others will be present to serve attendees. The locale is also home to Tweetsie Trailing Storefront, another popular attraction set to delight guests on the special day.
The afternoon action will start with the Patriotic Pedal, a fittingly themed bike contest that encourages participants to deck out their bikes in Independence Day paraphernalia. By 4 p.m., the top three “Best in Show” bikes will be awarded by the judges. Not only bikes, but other non-motorized vehicles like tricycles, wagons, strollers, and scooters can join in the fun.
Just fifteen minutes later, Covered Bridge Park Stage is set to host the Patriotic Pup Pageant. Owners can dress their furry friends in their best patriotic gear and compete for exciting prizes. From 4-7 p.m., the park will house FREE inflatables for children to enjoy. Magic Mirror Skin Art will cater to those who want to sport a celebratory look with face paint for the occasion.
As the day wears on, young participants will light up the stage during the annual Little Miss Firecracker Pageant, slated to begin at around 4:45 p.m. Children of various age groups will compete and winners will receive trophies. What follows is a series of dance performances by students from Dancer’s Dreams Performing Arts Academy.
The evening will kick start with patriotic opening ceremonies involving the raising of the flag and patriotic tributes. Soon after, Spank! The ’80s, the ultimate ’80s party band, will mesmerize the audience with a free special performance. To conclude the spectacular evening, a firework finale sponsored by Tour Carter County and the Elizabethton/Carter County Chamber of Commerce will light up the sky. Attendees can enjoy the sparkling spectacle from around the Covered Bridge Park and Downtown Elizabethton.
Loaded with an array of exciting events, scrumptious food, and lively entertainment, the Independence Day Celebration in Elizabethton is shaping up to be a memorable experience. We encourage all attendees to bring a blanket or a lawn chair to comfortably enjoy the day-long festivities and the grand finale. Remember, food trucks will be serving all day!
