Great American Cleanup Strikes Again: A United Commitment to Beautifying America

Rural landscapes, urban centers and waterfronts across the country are about to get a much-needed makeover. Keep America Beautiful, in partnership with Keep Tennessee Beautiful and Keep Carter County Beautiful, has announced the rescheduled date for their annual initiative, the Great American Cleanup. The event is slated to take place on Saturday, May 25, 2024, starting at 10:00 AM.

Joining Hands to Beautify Communities Nationwide

Citizens are encouraged to be part of this nationwide effort to restore glory to communities across the country. Leading the cleanup efforts in Carter County will be Keep Carter County Beautiful. Their focus will be mainly on clearing litter along the Tweetsie Trail from Lions Field to the parking lot behind the Coffee Company. A map of the cleanup zone can be found on their official website for interested volunteers.

Previous Impact

Last year, marking the 25th Annual Great American Cleanup, volunteers from across the country came together with a goal to tidy up their neighborhoods. The initiative resulted in over 10 million pounds of litter and debris being eliminated from our communities; sprucing up a whopping 787,966 acres of parks, public lands, playgrounds, and trails; and planting 6,257 trees along with more than 65,000 plants, flowers, shrubs, and bulbs. Initiatives like the Great American Cleanup are a testament to the collective power of local communities and organizations, contributing towards creating cleaner, safer, and healthier spaces where people can thrive.

Playing Your Part

Keep Carter County Beautiful has made arrangements to provide volunteers with necessities such as garbage bags, safety vests, and garbage grabbers. For volunteers who do not have them, water and gloves will also be made available. In an effort to make the cleanup an engaging and rewarding experience, the organization is planning to provide Jersey Mike’s Gift Cards to all volunteers as a token of appreciation for their contribution towards the cause.
