Freedom Hall Gears Up for Pepsi Independence Day Fireworks Celebration

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn., Upcoming Festivity

Striding towards the 37th annual Pepsi Independence Day Fireworks Celebration on July 4, Freedom Hall in Johnson City is buzzing with preparations. In the bid to host the much-awaited event, stage, tents, and other essentials are set to arrive early this week.

A Look into the Preparations

“Crews will be putting out flyers to the local residents,” shared Freedom Hall’s General Manager, Mark Stone. He further added, “We’ll have dumpsters arriving, we’ll have stages arriving. Parks and Rec will start amassing their stuff for the kids’ zone, so tents, all that fun stuff. It’ll all be arriving on Monday and Tuesday.”

Anticipating another memorable and successful experience, the planning team claims to be prepared for all weather conditions. The team has incorporated lessons from the previous year, where an unexpected lightning strike had disrupted the event. Stone reassured that a better plan is in place for weather-related contingencies this year. He mentioned, “The arena itself is a shelter so you don’t have to run to your car, we will have the arena open for that.”

New Additions This Year

In an attempt to make the event more inclusive and cater to a wider audience, the celebration this year has some new additions. One of the most notable ones is the introduction of a sensory area. The said space is intended for attendees with autism and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

“New this year is a sensory area it’s for autistic and PTSD folks,” Stone shared. He continued, “They always have a hard time with this holiday, with the explosions and that kind of thing. So we’ve not had that request before and so we are honored to do that this year.”

Other amenities planned for the better experience of the visitors include cooling/misting stations.

Experience the Celebration

The 37th annual Pepsi Independence Day Fireworks Celebration promises to be a grandeur experience this year beginning at 6 p.m. The event is set to feature live music, food trucks, and contests, culminating in a spectacular fireworks show.

As the residents gear up for the forthcoming festivities, the preparations at Freedom Hall are in full swing. The annual celebration is sure to add to the patriotic spirit of Independence Day in Johnson City.
