Exciting Weekend for ETSU Volleyball in Johnson City!

Johnson City, TN – What a thrilling weekend it has been for the ETSU volleyball team as they made waves at the Queen City Invitational! Volleyball fans, get ready to cheer because we have some amazing highlights to share with you.

Reese Rhodes Shines on the Court

This past weekend, the spotlight was firmly on Reese Rhodes, the talented setter from the Buccaneers. After displaying some incredible skills on the court, she was awarded the SoCon Setter of the Week title—a fantastic recognition that marks her very first conference honor as a Buccaneer! It’s safe to say that Reese is not only a key player but also an emerging star in collegiate volleyball.

A Weekend of Victories

Rhodes led the charge as the ETSU Buccaneers breezed through the tournament, securing an impressive trio of victories! Just imagine the atmosphere in the gym as they took to the court for a five-set nail-biter against North Carolina Central on Friday. In this match, Reese was on fire, racking up a season-high 53 assists, along with 11 digs, five kills, three blocks, and two aces! Talk about an all-around performance!

But the excitement didn’t stop there! Still on Friday, the Bucs faced off against Charlotte in a four-set match and, guess what? Rhodes kept her momentum going strong. She tallied 46 assists, contributed six kills, had six digs, and made two blocks. It’s no wonder the crowd was cheering—her performance was truly something special to witness!

Closing the Tournament with a Sweep

To cap off the tournament on Saturday, ETSU took on Queens in a match where they absolutely dominated, sweeping them away with sheer skill and teamwork. Rhodes capped off her stellar weekend with 33 assists, nine digs, five kills, and two blocks. What a way to finish!

Queen City Invitational MVP

Following such an impressive showing, it was hardly a surprise when Reese was named the Queen City Invitational MVP. This accolade is a testament to her hard work, dedication, and undeniable talent on the court. It’s moments like these that make all the practice and teamwork so rewarding!
