Excitement Builds for Covered Bridge Days in Elizabethton

Elizabethton is buzzing with anticipation as the Covered Bridge Days festival approaches! Mark your calendars for an amazing weekend filled with fun, laughter, and plenty of music from Friday, September 20, to Sunday, September 22. The Elizabethton Parks and Recreation Department has put together a fantastic lineup of events that promise to entertain the entire family.

Weekend Highlights

This three-day celebration kicks off on Friday with a live performance from the talented bluegrass artist Daniel Grindstaff. Known for his incredible banjo playing, Grindstaff has graced the stage of the famous Grand Ole Opry and collaborated with iconic artists, including Dolly Parton. Excitingly, he’s also been nominated for the 2024 International Bluegrass Music Association’s Collaborative Recording of the Year and Song of the Year for his moving song, “Forever Young”. You won’t want to miss his set!

The festivities aren’t just about music. Families can engage in a Touch-A-Truck event on Friday, where kids can explore and climb on real trucks and heavy machinery. It’s a fantastic way for little ones to learn and have fun at the same time! There will also be plenty of arts and crafts vendors showcasing their handmade goodies, so be prepared to find some unique treasures.

A Star-Studded Saturday

On Saturday, get ready for a true treat as the legendary Ricky Skaggs takes the stage. With multiple Grammy Awards under his belt and a recent induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame, Skaggs is renowned for his unique blend of bluegrass and country music. His performance is sure to be a highlight of the festival. And just when you think the night couldn’t get any better, stick around for a spectacular fireworks finale to light up the night sky!

Closing with Inspiration

As the festival wraps up on Sunday, the talented Jason Crabb, a Grammy-winning gospel and country artist, will take the stage. Known for his moving and inspirational songs like “Through the Fire”, Crabb’s powerful voice is bound to leave a lasting impression on the audience. To add to the excitement, the Elizabethton Youth Business Fair will take place right after his performance. Here, young entrepreneurs aged 7 to 18 will showcase and sell their own creations – a wonderful opportunity to support the future generation!

Fun for Everyone

The weekend will be packed with family-friendly activities, including free inflatables, magic shows, and foam parties. For those looking for something slightly more adventurous, there will be some pay-to-play attractions scattered throughout the festival grounds. With an array of local food trucks serving delicious bites, you can feed your hunger while enjoying the lively atmosphere!
