Elizabethton Senior Center Reveals Weekly Schedule

In Elizabethton, Tennessee, the beloved local hub for senior citizens, the Senior Center, has released its schedule of activities for the week running from Monday, May 20 through Friday, May 24. Located at 428 East G Street, the center serves seniors aged 55 and over, offering a variety of programs and services designed to foster social connections, physical health, and overall well-being.

Weekly Schedule Details

The center operates from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m Monday through Thursday and from 8 a.m. to 12 noon on Fridays. Seniors are welcome to enjoy the billiard and fitness rooms anytime during operating hours without the need for appointments.

Here are some of the key activities happening this week:

Health and Wellness Activities

  • Monday and Wednesday: Just keep moving, a group-led cardio, toning, and strength building session at 9 a.m.
  • Tuesday and Thursday: A six-week arthritis workshop, Walk with Ease, at 9 a.m.
  • Daily: Chair Yoga and Gentle Flow Yoga sessions at 12:15 p.m. and 1:30 p.m respectively, both instructed by Yoga Farm instructors. Each session costs $3.
  • Thursday: Qigong with Adina at 12 p.m.

Lunch Offerings

Every weekday at 11 a.m, the center provides a variety of meals such as Chicken Fried Steak, Chili Mac Casserole, Oriental Chicken and Rice, Tuna Salad.

Informational Presentations and Workshops

  • Tuesday: A program called Families Raising Families, held at the Boys and Girls Club of Elizabethton at 6 p.m.
  • Wednesday: A Basic Drug Awareness Presentation at 10 a.m, delivered by the First Judicial Drug Task Force.

Friday Breakfast Fundraiser

On Friday, there will be a Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser from 8-10 a.m. The event includes door prizes and live music featuring “Some Old Friends.” Tickets are available for $10, and all proceeds directly benefit the Elizabethton Senior Center.

Other Services

Seniors wanting to give back to their community can call the center at (423) 543-4362 to inquire about becoming a driver for home delivered meals. Reflective street signs are also available for purchase at the center for $5. These are provided at this discount price through the SALT Council.

Upcoming Excursions

Among future offerings, the center has two exciting trips lined up which are planned by Gail Berry. The first one is a visit to New Brunswick scheduled for August 19-31, and the second, a Lancaster Show Trip & The Dutch Country from October 7-10.
