The bustling city of Elizabethton is all set to enjoy another week filled with health and joy as the Elizabethton Senior Center has announced their exciting schedule for the upcoming week starting Monday, July 1st, right through Friday, July 5th. The center, conveniently situated at 428 East G Street, has plenty of opportunities for seniors aged 55 and over to indulge in a range of activities.
The senior centre’s hours of operation are 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. from Monday to Thursday, and 8 a.m. to 12 noon on Friday. The center provides ample room for seniors to enjoy billiards and maintain their fitness routine with no obligation to book an appointment.
Starting things off on Monday, the center encourages seniors to ‘Just Keep Movin’ with a group-led session that comprises cardio, toning, and strength-building exercises starting at 9 a.m. A pasta fan’s delight, Lunch is served at 11 a.m. with a scrumptious Chicken Alfredo meal followed by a soothing Chair Yoga session with Yoga Farm Instructor, Shirley Gomillian at 12:15 pm. A session of Gentle Flow Yoga with Cindy Brugnoletti concludes the day’s events for a meager $3.
On Tuesday, seniors can take advantage of a complimentary blood pressure screening with Freda at 9 a.m. A special reading program led by the Boys & Girls Club commences at 10 a.m. For lunch, a mouth-watering Beef & Potato with Cheese dish awaits seniors at 11 a.m. The center then presents line dancing to the attendees with Sharon Pilk for just $3.
Continuing the healthy routine on Wednesday, Just Keep Movin’ exercises commence at 9 a.m., followed by Qigong with Adina for $3. A savory Chili Dog with Onions meal will be served for lunch at 11 a.m. Following lunch, seniors can again participate in Chair Yoga with Shirley Gomillian and Gentle Flow Yoga with Cindy Brugnoletti for $3 each.
Seniors will spend Thursday and Friday enjoying the 4th of July holiday with their loved ones as the center has scheduled to remain closed on these two days with no meal services available.
For those interested in playing an active role in their community, the Elizabethton Senior Center encourages them to become drivers for home-delivered meals. In addition, street signs with reflective numbers are available for purchase at the center for a discounted $5, thanks to the SALT Council. Looking beyond the week, the center has planned exciting trips under the supervision of Gail Berry. These include a 13-day trip to New Brunswick from Monday, August 19th to Saturday, August 31st and a 4-day trip to Lancaster Show Trip & the Dutch Country from Monday, October 7th to Thursday, October 10th.
