If you’re in the beautiful city of Elizabethton, make sure to stop by the Elizabethton Senior Center this week! With a cozy atmosphere located at 428 East G Street, the center opens its doors Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and closes early on Friday at 12 noon. There’s so much happening this week, you won’t want to miss it!

Kickstart the Week on Monday, January 6

Start your week off strong with some engaging activities. At 9 a.m., join the group for “Just Keep Movin’”, an invigorating cardio, toning, and strength-building session that will get your heart pumping and your spirits high. Following that at 11 a.m., enjoy a delicious lunch featuring Chili Dog—yum! If you’re feeling tense, the Yoga Farm’s massage session is happening from 12 p.m.—but don’t forget to signup in advance. Afterwards, at 12:15 p.m., you can try out Chair Yoga with Shirley Gomillian or the relaxing Gentle Flow Yoga with Cindy Brugnoletti, both for just $3.

Terrific Tuesday, January 7

On Tuesday, things really heat up with a busy schedule! Start your morning with blood pressure checks at 8:30 a.m.—a crucial step to maintaining your health. Then from 9 to 10 a.m., get ready for the “Stay Strong – Stay Healthy” program, a free eight-week course by UT Extension focusing on strength, flexibility, and balance. Lunch is sure to be a hit with Oven Fried Chicken served at 11 a.m.. Don’t forget to join Sharon Pilk’s line dancing session from 12 to 1 p.m. for just $3—get ready to groove!

Wonderful Wednesday, January 8

Make your way back to the center on Wednesday for another fun-filled day. The day kicks off with another “Just Keep Movin’” session at 9 a.m.. Afterward, Qigong with Adina at 10 a.m. offers a unique take on body movement for only $3. Lunch features an Egg Patty with Sausage at 11 a.m., setting the stage for more yoga opportunities at 12:15 p.m. with Chair Yoga or Gentle Flow Yoga, both for $3!

Thrilling Thursday, January 9

Thursday is a fantastic day to explore new ideas! Join the “Stay Strong – Stay Healthy” course again at 9 a.m.. Then at 10 a.m., boost your brain and body with a special Brain-Body-Boost class featuring mixed exercises to work your heart and mind. Lunch served at 11 a.m. will delight you with Stuffed Pepper Soup. Later, from 1 to 2 p.m., the center will host the Vet – 2 – Vet Café, sponsored by Caris Healthcare, welcoming all veterans in the community.

Fun-Filled Friday, January 10

As the week wraps up, Friday brings more fun! Kick things off with Just Keep Movin’ once more at 9 a.m., followed by a spirited game of Bingo at 10 a.m.. Lunch will feature a delectable BBQ Chicken Breast at 11 a.m.. It’s a great way to start the weekend!

Community Engagement and Support

In addition to the weekly schedule, if you’re looking to give back, the center has a community volunteering opportunity! Interested individuals can call 543-4255 to learn about becoming a driver for home-delivered meals. A reminder to seniors impacted by Hurricane Helene—support with food, water, or necessities is available; simply call 423-543-4362 or visit the center.
