Good news for seniors in Elizabethton! From January 6 to January 10, 2025, the Elizabethton Senior Center is buzzing with a variety of fun-filled and enriching activities. Located at 428 East G Street, the center opens its doors Monday to Thursday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. to 12 noon. Whether you’re looking to stay fit, learn something new, or just have a good time, there’s something for everyone!
The week kicks off with an invigorating session of Just Keep Movin’ at 9:00 a.m. This group-led cardio, toning, and strength building class is perfect for helping you kickstart your week. After a good workout, you can refuel with a delicious Chili Dog at lunch time. Later in the day, indulge in a soothing massage from Yoga Farm. Do remember to sign up in advance for this treat! If massages aren’t your thing, you can take part in Chair Yoga with Shirley Gomillian for just $3 starting at 12:15 p.m., or try Gentle Flow Yoga with Cindy Brugnoletti at 1:00 p.m. for another $3.
On Tuesday, don’t miss the Blood Pressure Checks with Freda at 8:30 a.m.—it’s a great way to keep track of your health. At 9:00 a.m., join the Stay Strong – Stay Healthy course, an incredible 8-week program by UT Extension to help you improve strength, flexibility, and balance at no cost! Have you heard about the services for the blind and visually impaired? There’s a seminar happening at 10:00 a.m. that you won’t want to skip. Fur the foodie fanatics, lunch will be Oven Fried Chicken. Finish the day with Line Dancing for $3 at noon with Sharon Pilk; it’s bound to be a blast!
Another chance to Just Keep Movin’ starts off Wednesday just like Monday at 9:00 a.m., followed by a unique class—Qigong—with Adina at 10:00 a.m. for only $3. Next up is lunch featuring Egg Patty with Sausage. Later, you can enjoy another round of Chair Yoga with Shirley Gomillian or Gentle Flow Yoga with Cindy Brugnoletti, both for $3. Keep those good vibes flowing!
Thursdays are just as bustling! The Stay Strong – Stay Healthy course continues at 9:00 a.m. to keep those momentum-building sessions rolling. From 10:00 a.m., you can join the Brain-Body-Boost activity—a fabulous mix of exercises for both the heart and brain. Lunch will be a warm and comforting Stuffed Pepper Soup. Don’t forget to highlight the Vet – 2 – Vet Café at 1:00 p.m. It’s a special gathering sponsored by Caris Healthcare, welcoming all veterans for some camaraderie!
As the week wraps up, jump into Friday with another fun Just Keep Movin’ session at 9:00 a.m. Join in the fun and try your luck at Bingo starting at 10:00 a.m.—who knows, you might walk away with a prize! To finish the week, enjoy a tasty BBQ Chicken Breast for lunch. It’s the perfect way to celebrate a week filled with activities and community!
