In recent weeks, the Elizabethton Police Department has reported a string of arrests. These incidents, ranging from public intoxication to theft, reveal an increasing tension in the community. The department calls for increased vigilance among residents and stronger cooperation with law enforcement officers.
Kathy Sue Lingerfelt Arrested on Multiple Charges
On April 17, Officer Samuel Woodby was dispatched to a disturbance at 841 West Elk Ave. (Exxon), where he encountered Kathy Sue Lingerfelt in an agitated condition. Lingerfelt was subsequently arrested for public intoxication, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of methamphetamine.
Falsification of a Drug Test Leads to Citation
The day before, on April 16, Corporal Tim Garland handled a case at 100 Parkway Blvd. (probation and parole) where Jacob T. Carty was cited for allegedly falsifying a drug test. This denotes more than merely a misdemeanor, as it reflects potential substance misuse and a breach of trust with the law enforcement community.
Moves to Apprehend After Vehicle Theft Incident
On April 15, Officer Nicholas Kerns apprehended Leonard A. Price after a rapid vehicle theft episode. Price led the officer on a foot chase, which culminated with his capture in a nearby river. Investigator Maney will take over subsequent inquiries into the case.
