What an exciting week it’s been for Elizabethton! The Elizabethton Parks and Recreation Department recently made waves at the annual Tennessee Recreation and Parks Association (TRPA) Conference, held in Murfreesboro from November 4 to November 7, 2024. The event brought together parks and recreation professionals from across the state, all dedicated to making local parks and programs even better.
A Night of Honors
During the captivating Sneaker Ball Awards Banquet, the department celebrated remarkable achievements that showcased their hard work and dedication. One of the standout moments of the night was when Assistant Director and former Maintenance Supervisor Garrett Johnson received the highly regarded Wayne Hansard Award. This award is reserved for those who exemplify outstanding dedication to maintaining parks, facilities, and grounds. Johnson’s commitment shines as brightly as the trophies themselves!
Recognition for Professional Growth
The celebration didn’t stop there! Assistant Director Kelly Kitchens was also honored during the conference, receiving her Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP) pin. This credential is nationally recognized and signifies a high level of expertise in parks and recreation. Elizabethton Takes Home the “Step Ahead Award”
