Elizabethton Says Goodbye to Beloved Resident Nancy Carol Blevins

It’s with heavy hearts that we share the news of Nancy Carol Blevins, a cherished member of the Elizabethton community, who peacefully passed away at age 87. Carol, as she was affectionately known, took her final breath on April 7, 2025, at the Hillview Health Center, where she spent her last days surrounded by the love of family and friends.

A Life Well-Lived

Nancy was born on September 1, 1937, in the vibrant town of Johnson City. She was the beloved daughter of Calvin and Grace Haynes Feathers, two names that will always resonate with anyone who knew them. Carol was not only a devoted daughter but also a loving wife to her late husband, Wiley “Jake” Blevins. Together they created a home filled with love and laughter, a true testament to their lasting bond.

In addition to her husband, Carol also mourned the loss of another important figure in her life, her beloved dog, Jake, who brought her joy and companionship throughout the years. But among those she leaves behind, her daughter, Becky Blevins, holds a special place in her heart as her most cherished legacy. Becky’s bond with her mother was a source of warmth and happiness for both of them.

A Passion for Educating

Carol dedicated a significant part of her life to teaching. After 33 years of service, she retired from her beloved job at Happy Valley Elementary School and Happy Valley Middle School. Her passion for education touched the lives of countless children, and her impact on the community will continue to be felt for many years to come.

In her spare time, Carol loved to indulge in her favorite hobbies. She had a green thumb, as evidenced by her passion for gardening, and she often enjoyed tranquil walks with her dog. It didn’t matter if it was sunny or drizzling; a stroll was her way to connect with nature and enjoy the simple pleasures of life.

Furry Family Members & Friends

Carol was also surrounded by love from her grand-dogs, Butch and Becker, who made her smile every single day. Along with her family, her good friend, Jane Smith, also survives her, proving that Carol’s love extended to many and her friendships were deep and meaningful.

Final Farewell

The community is invited to pay their last respects and honor Carol’s memory. Friends and family can gather on Friday, April 11, 2025, from 2 to 3 p.m. at the Mausoleum of Peace at Happy Valley Memorial Park. A graveside service will follow at 3 p.m. The family encourages those wishing to honor Carol’s memory to consider a donation instead of flowers, suggesting contributions to the Elizabethton-Carter County Animal Shelter at 135 Sycamore Shoals Dr., Elizabethton, TN 37643. This way, her love for animals can continue to live on through the hearts she touched.

For anyone who wishes to share messages of comfort or support, they are invited to visit the Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home website. The funeral home is managing the arrangements for the Blevins family, ensuring that this beautiful journey of remembrance unfolds with dignity and love. If you need to reach them, their contact number is (423) 543-5544.

As the community of Elizabethton remembers Nancy Carol Blevins, we are reminded of her laughter, wisdom, and devotion to family, friends, and students. While we say goodbye, her legacy of kindness will forever remain in our hearts.
