Elizabethton, a charming town in Carter County, is buzzing with excitement as one of its own graduates has been honored for her exceptional achievements in pursuing a future in healthcare. Caroline Price, a member of the Class of 2024 from Elizabethton High School, has received the prestigious Health Sciences Achievement Award from the Tennessee Center for Health Workforce Development (TCWD).
This award, previously known as the Mary Layne Van Cleave Achievement Award, was established with the noble aim of encouraging Tennessee high school seniors to take steps towards a healthcare career after graduation. It’s not just an accolade; it’s a motivational boost for the future leaders in healthcare. Price, who is already on her way to pursuing a nursing degree, serves as an inspiring example for her peers and younger students.
2024 has been a standout year for the TCWD, as they have awarded this recognition to not just Caroline, but 23 graduating high school students. Since the award’s inception in 2013, more than 130 individuals have received this honor, highlighting the program’s growing impact on the community.
Andrew Burnett, who is the Vice President of Workforce Strategies and Rural Health at the Tennessee Hospital Association, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “On behalf of TCWD, I want to congratulate the Class of 2024 recipients! The Health Sciences Achievement Award is meant to inspire students to discover their passion for healthcare. I’m excited to see what these students will achieve as the next generation of healthcare professionals.”
The recipients of this year’s awards are diverse in their goals, looking to pursue careers in various fields such as pre-med, nursing, psychology, sonography, healthcare management, public health, and social work. This variety reflects a growing demand for skilled professionals across all areas of healthcare, demonstrating how vital these roles are in our communities.
If you’re inspired by Caroline’s journey and want to be a part of this initiative, the next application period for the Health Sciences Achievement Award will open in January 2025. It’s a golden opportunity for future graduates who are passionate about making a difference in the healthcare field.
As Caroline Price and her fellow awardees embark on their educational journeys, the town of Elizabethton can take pride in its talented youth stepping forward into such important roles. This achievement speaks volumes about the dedication and hard work of students in Carter County, as they lay the groundwork for healthier futures in our communities.
In a time when healthcare professionals are more crucial than ever, inspiring young individuals like Caroline are sure to make significant contributions. Together, they are the future of healthcare and hold the promise of brighter days ahead in their communities!
