Caroline Price, a member of the Class of 2024 from Elizabethton High School, has received the prestigious Health Sciences Achievement Award from the Tennessee Center for Health Workforce Development (TCWD).

A Step Toward a Healthcare Career

This award, previously known as the Mary Layne Van Cleave Achievement Award, was established with the noble aim of encouraging Tennessee high school seniors to take steps towards a healthcare career after graduation. It’s not just an accolade; it’s a motivational boost for the future leaders in healthcare. Price, who is already on her way to pursuing a nursing degree, serves as an inspiring example for her peers and younger students.

Celebrating Achievements

2024 has been a standout year for the TCWD, as they have awarded this recognition to not just Caroline, but 23 graduating high school students. Since the award’s inception in 2013, more than 130 individuals have received this honor, highlighting the program’s growing impact on the community.

Andrew Burnett, who is the Vice President of Workforce Strategies and Rural Health at the Tennessee Hospital Association, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “On behalf of TCWD, I want to congratulate the Class of 2024 recipients! The Health Sciences Achievement Award is meant to inspire students to discover their passion for healthcare. I’m excited to see what these students will achieve as the next generation of healthcare professionals.”
