Elizabethton Gathers for ‘Harmony for Hopson’ Event This Saturday at Bonnie Kate Theater

Community spirit is set to soar in Elizabethton this weekend as residents prepare to attend the Harmony for Hopson benefit event. This fundraiser, dedicated to the memory of Elizabethton native, Jonathan Blake Hopson, will be held on Saturday, April 6, and is billed as a heartfelt tribute to a beloved community figure who left this world too soon.

Rallying Around the Hopson Family

Having lost Hopson at the young age of 34, event organizers aim to provide financial support for the late figure’s family through the fundraiser. The event includes two shows at 2:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the historical Bonnie Kate Theater in downtown Elizabethton. All proceeds from ticket sales, cash donations at the theatre, and Venmo contributions through QR codes will go directly to the Hopson family.

A Stellar Line-Up for a Noble Cause

Harmony for Hopson will feature performances by local talent with national acclaim, including Nashville Recording Artist and Elizabethton native, Grant Meredith. Serving as a special guest, Tony Hardin is set to open both shows. Ensuring everyone has a chance to participate, tickets are available online and at the Bonnie Kate ticket office.

Jonathan Blake Hopson: Leaving a Legacy of Love

Blake Hopson, who ascended to his heavenly abode on January 30, 2024, in Boston, Mass., was deeply rooted in Elizabethton. Born on September 10, 1989, he was a devoted family man, sports enthusiast, and respected community member. Hopson graduated from East Tennessee State University (ETSU) with a bachelor’s degree in education and a master’s degree in Higher Education. He was a dedicated deacon at Westside Christian Church and worked as a nuclear operator at Nuclear Fuel Services in Erwin.

More than his achievements, however, Hopson was celebrated as a loving family man. Despite the sorrow of his early departure, the love he nurtured within his family continues to drive their strength and resilience. He is survived by his wife, Carrie Wilson Hopson, and their four shining lights – their children, Hadley, Beau, Avery, and posthumously born Judah.

Blake’s indomitable spirit is imprinted in the hearts of his two sisters, Jaycee Hopson Reed (Alex) and Colbie Hopson Adkins (Ty); and his maternal grandmother, Brenda Hyder of Elizabethton.

Unity in Community

As the city of Elizabethton gets ready to celebrate Blake’s life and rally around his family, the Harmony for Hopson event offers a sincere reminder about the unity and strength of this close-knit community. Through enjoying the afternoon of music and camaraderie, the community will shine a light on Blake’s vibrant life, encapsulating the spirit of unity that is a testament to Elizabethton’s admirable community spirit.
