Douglas Allen Gibson’s Disturbing Incident

The first arrest involved 43-year-old Douglas Allen Gibson, who found himself in a bit of hot water after allegedly firing shots at an occupied garage on Sims Hill Road. As deputies rushed to the scene after receiving multiple calls about the disturbing sounds of gunfire, they soon identified Gibson as the primary suspect.

Gibson defended his actions, claiming he was merely shooting at a target in the opposite direction and suggested that the bullet ricocheted, causing it to hit the garage. However, the 911 caller who was present with his girlfriend painted a different story. He reported hearing the shots and even saw Gibson holding a pistol, making what could be perceived as a threatening comment about the woman.

Upon investigation, authorities found several bullet holes in the garage door and even in a nearby truck window. Given his prior felony conviction, things quickly escalated for Gibson, who now faces a daunting two counts of aggravated assault and two counts of felony reckless endangerment. He is currently sitting tight without bond at the Carter County Detention Center as he waits for his day in court.

Thomas Robert Gambrel: A Frustrated Neighbor

Thomas Robert Gambrel, 47, was also arrested on the same day for his own reckless outburst fueled by frustration. Gambrel reportedly decided to discharge his firearm because of the noise generated by large trucks passing near his home.

Deputies were summoned to the Carter County Landfill after truck drivers reported hearing gunshots on Landfill Road. One driver highlighted that Gambrel had previously made threats due to the disruptive noise caused by “jake brakes” used by the large vehicles.

Upon arriving at the scene, law enforcement found six spent shell casings lying close to the front door of Gambrel’s home. He approached the deputies while still armed with a pistol and openly admitted to firing his weapon into his own yard to express his discontent with the truck drivers.

His actions landed him in serious trouble, as he faces two counts of aggravated assault and is likewise being held without bond at the Carter County Detention Center, awaiting his arraignment.
