Hey there, Elizabethton! Are you ready to celebrate the magic of the season? The annual Elizabethton Christmas Parade is just around the corner, and while this year’s event might look a little different, the spirit of the celebration is alive and well! Mark your calendars for 6 p.m. on Saturday, December 14—you won’t want to miss it!
That’s right! This year, the parade will not follow its usual route, thanks to the recent challenges our beloved city has faced. In the wake of Hurricane Helene’s passage through our region, we feel the community’s resilience shining brightly. “We know this year’s parade will feel and look different, but it is important we continue this time-honored tradition for Elizabethton,” says Main Street Elizabethton Director Courtney Bean.
The new parade route will stretch along West G Street, from Bemberg Road to South Roan Street, with road closures starting at 5:45 p.m.. Don’t worry—they’ve got everything planned out to ensure a safe and fun experience for everyone involved, from parade participants to enthusiastic spectators!
This year, the parade theme is “Santa’s Workshop”, which perfectly captures the essence of togetherness and festive cheer that we all cherish. The spotlight will be shining brightly on the Boys and Girls Club of Elizabethton/Carter County, who will be honored as the parade marshal. This is a fantastic way to recognize the safe and fun experiences they provide for our community’s youth!
If you’re itching to get involved, there’s still time! Interested participants can register online at MainStreetElizabethton.com. But hurry—the deadline to sign up is December 7 or until they reach their maximum capacity of 100 participants. So whether you’ve got a float, a group, or just some holiday spirit to share, why not be a part of the fun?
For those who want to take in the festivities, remember that Main Street Elizabethton is dedicated to providing updates for the public. Keep an eye out for announcements about suggested parking areas and road closure timings, especially for those of you living in the affected areas.
The Elizabethton Christmas Parade isn’t just about fun and festivities—it’s also a fundraiser for Main Street Elizabethton, a nonprofit organization committed to enhancing and preserving our wonderful downtown district. Their mission is to strike a balance between honoring our heritage and looking toward the future, all while breathing new life into the heart of our city.
To stay in the loop leading up to the parade, check out their social media pages on Facebook and Instagram at @DowntownElizabethton for the latest updates. For those wanting to dive deeper into how you can help out or get involved with Main Street Elizabethton, you can reach out to Courtney Bean directly at (423) 213-0090 or drop her a line at cbean@cityofelizabethton.org.
So, get ready to wrap your holiday spirit in warmth and joy, Elizabethton! This year’s parade promises to be a spectacular showcase of community strength and festive celebration. See you there!
