Abingdon, Virginia, was buzzing with kindness and generosity on Wednesday as the local Food City hosted a heartfelt Flood Relief Drive to help those affected by recent flooding in the region. From 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., the front of the store was lively, with area radio stations setting up to collect donations from community members who wanted to lend a hand.
A Wave of Support
People arrived with smiles and an eagerness to give back. Among the generous souls was a local customer, Tony Justice, who made a significant contribution by donating a pick-up truck full of water cases. “It feels good to help out,” Tony shared. “Every little bit counts, and there are many who need support right now.” His sentiments were echoed by others who showed up, eager to chip in.

Food City provided community members with a list of suggested items for donations, emphasizing the types of goods that would be most useful to flood victims. The list included:

On Thursday, you can visit the Food City in Blountville from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and on Friday, the collection will take place at the Food City in Johnson City, located on North State of Franklin Road, during the same hours.
