Commercial Roofing Types in Bristol TN

Bristol’s iconic buildings such as G.W. Blackley House, Walnut Grove, King–Lancaster–McCoy–Mitchell House, Hampton Inn Bristol, and Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott, make the city’s skyline very distinct. What’s interesting is that all these buildings have different types of roofing, and so do the city’s retail, office, and industrial buildings.

We had to talk to the best local roofing experts serving Bristol, TN, to know what types of commercial roofing are commonly used in the city. We contacted Bristol’s major commercial roofer Eskola Roofing, and Here’s what we found out:

Flat Roofs

Flat roofs or low-slope roofs on commercial buildings in Bristol, TN, are common because they are easy and cheaper to install. One can find them in retail buildings and office complexes. They also require low maintenance and can last for decades with proper care. The weather in Bristol, TN is fairly mild compared to other Tennessee cities, so the elements don’t take their toll on flat roofs as much as they would in other places. Buildings of General Rubber & Plastics Co and Royal Buildings Products are some examples of commercial buildings with flat roofs in Bristol.

One of the main disadvantages of a flat roof is that it can pond water if there is no proper drainage system. Also, UV rays can be harsh on these roofs and must be regularly inspected and maintained. To overcome these flat roofs get protection from added layers of modified bitumen, single layer membranes, and buildup roofing. These provide a high degree of waterproofing, flexibility, and strength to the roof.

Single-layer membrane roofing is a type of flat roofing system that has only one layer of waterproof material. This type is usually seen in small commercial buildings such as gas stations and convenience stores.

Modified bitumen roofing is a commercial roofing system that is often seen on large, flat or low-sloped roofs. It’s made up of asphalt and reinforcing fabrics that are layered together to create a strong, durable surface. This type of roofing is often used on office buildings, warehouses, and other commercial structures.

Buildup roofing consists of multiple plies, or layers, of asphalt-saturated, felt that are hot mopped over the base ply. The number of plies in the system depends on the roofing contractor and the project requirements. A gravel surface is then embedded into the top layer to protect from ultraviolet rays and weathering.

Metal Roofs

Commercial metal roofing in Bristol, TN, is also growing in popularity because it is durable, long-lasting, and can be installed on all types of commercial buildings, including office complexes and warehouses. Metal roofs can last for over 50 years with proper maintenance. They are also fire-resistant and can reflect heat, which helps keep energy costs down in the summer. The First Community Bank is one example of a commercial building with a metal roof in Bristol.

So these are some of the common commercial roofing types in Bristol, TN. Bristol, TN, is growing rapidly, and so is the demand for commercial roofing. The city is adopting new roofing technologies and materials to keep up with the changing climate and weather conditions.

If you are a business owner in Bristol, TN, and want to do roofing for your commercial building, we suggest that you consult with a local roofing contractor to find out which type of roofing is best for your building.
