KCCB Announces Cleanup Event for Milligan Highway

In a bid to promote communal cohesiveness and environmental sustainability, Keep Carter County Beautiful (KCCB) has announced that it will conduct a cleanup event along Milligan Highway. The event is slated to occur on July 20 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Rejuvenating Milligan Highway

The cleanup effort will cover Milligan Highway from Highway 321 to Okolona Road. With an objective to rid the area of litter and trash, the move not only furthers the cause of environmental cleanliness but also instills a sense of community participation and environmental responsibility among the residents.

Community members have been invited to participate in this exercise. As the old saying goes, many hands make light work and KCCB is hopeful that the residents will turn up in significant numbers.

A Token of Appreciation

To express its gratitude to the volunteers, KCCB is providing gift cards for Jersey Mike’s in Elizabethton. Getting involved in the cleanup event, hence, is not only a great way to serve the community but also enjoy a delicious lunch, courtesy of the event organizers.

Practical Arrangements

Volunteers will assemble at the Happy Valley Elementary School parking lot on Milligan Highway. For aiding in the cleanup, KCCB will provide gloves, garbage bags, safety vests, and trash grabbers. Participants, however, are encouraged to carry water with them, even though drinks will also be available during the event.

As the event is recognized by the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT), volunteers are required to sign a waiver, with minors needing parental consent. A TDOT safety video, providing valuable tips for the participants, can be accessed on the “Events” page of the KCCB website.

Strong Support from Community Partners

The initiative has drawn support from a host of organizations. Keep Tennessee Beautiful and the Keep America Beautiful Affiliate Support Program have contributed safety vests and grabbers. TDOT has generously provided garbage bags and will also oversee the collection of the accumulated trash.

A Message of Gratitude

KCCB has extended its appreciation to all volunteers and supporters acknowledging the vital role they play in making the community cleaner, more sustainable, and visitor-friendly. The organization believes that this initiative is a humble step towards instilling a sense of communal responsibility among Carter County residents to keep their surroundings clean and beautiful.
