As the temperature rises for summer in Elizabethton, fans of good food are bracing for a chilly surprise. This past Thursday at 2 PM, the local Chick-fil-A, situated at 753 W. Elk Ave., announced it would be closing its doors until later in the summer. The closing is in effect to allow for renovations that promise an overhaul of the location’s current facilities, including improvements to the dining room and drive-thru experiences, as well as a kitchen expansion.
Reactions to the news on Facebook ranged from humorous to emotionally charged, with some involving their children in their laments. One user humorously requested for Chick-fil-A representatives to break the news to their son while another jokingly mourned the temporary loss of the “Lords Chicken.”
According to updates provided on the restaurant’s Facebook page, the renovation process is slated to take approximately 12 to 14 weeks. Once the upgrades are completed, patrons can expect a significantly expanded kitchen area, a refreshingly re-designed dining area, and notable improvements to the drive-thru service.
The Chick-fil-A management assured their loyal customers that, despite the temporary hiatus, the result would be “worth the wait.”
This is not the first time that the Elizabethton Chick-fil-A would close for summer renovations. Previously in July 2022, the location underwent upgrades targeting the drive-thru section specifically, with the installation of a large canopy equipped with heat and fans. This track record of continuous improvements shows the commitment of the management to providing a superior dining experience to its patrons.
Chick-fil-A enthusiasts left in a lurch by the closure have alternatives at their disposal. Below are other Chick-fil-A locations within a 10-mile radius of the Elizabethton store:
So, while it might be a slightly sad summer for fans of Chick-fil-A in Elizabethton, the promise of an even better Chick-fil-A experience and the presence of alternative locations serve as reasons for optimism. And when those familiar doors open again later this summer, it’s certain the beloved chicken sandwiches, waffle fries, and nuggets will be worth the wait.
