BRISTOL, Va. — July was a stellar month for table games at Bristol’s temporary casino, marking its second-highest revenue month since its grand opening two years ago. According to the latest monthly report released by the Virginia Lottery, the Bristol Casino generated an impressive $14,842,472.88 in adjusted gross revenue (AGR) for the month of July.
This figure represents a small yet significant rise over June’s revenue, which was noted at around $14.3 million. Although slot machines continue to account for the majority of the casino’s revenue, July saw a noteworthy uptick in activity for table games. Specifically, the casino garnered $3,149,940.50 in revenue from table games alone, marking the second highest ever since the establishment opened its doors.
The only month that surpassed this figure was March 2024, during which the casino reported an all-time high of $3.26 million in table game revenue. That month also remains the casino’s most profitable to date.
Meanwhile, revenue from slots rounded out at $11,692,532.38 for July. This growth contributes to the casino’s upward trend in its monthly average AGR in 2024. As it stands, the casino has been averaging $14.3 million AGR each month this year. To put this into perspective, the average monthly AGR in 2023 was $13.4 million, making for an approximate 6.5% increase year-over-year.
The surge in revenue also resulted in a significant payout to the Regional Improvement Commission (RIC). July’s gains led to $890,548.37 being disbursed to the RIC, which oversees more than a dozen local governments in Southwest Virginia. These funds are crucial as they are earmarked to enhance transportation, education, and public safety in the region.
It’s worth noting that the Bristol Casino is taxed at an 18% rate, with one-third of that amount being allocated to the RIC. Consequently, July’s contributions pushed the total funds paid out to the RIC past the $20 million mark.
And while residents and visitors alike are reveling in the casino’s successes, it’s not just about the financial gains. There’s an evident positive vibe emanating from the facility as it fosters local employment and contributes to community projects. The casino, with its multiple gaming options, offers a lively atmosphere where patrons can enjoy the thrill of gaming in a regulated and safe environment.
With promising revenue figures and ongoing community impact, Bristol Casino seems to be on a significant upward trajectory. Local businesses and government entities are hopeful that this trend will continue, further boosting the local economy.
Indeed, as the casino completes another successful month, Bristol’s spirit remains high with optimism for what the future holds. The continuing rise in monthly averages indicates a stable growth pattern, which augurs well for all stakeholders involved—be it the casino, local government, or the general public.
As we look forward to the coming months, there’s a palpable sense of anticipation surrounding the casino’s performance. Will it break its current records, or perhaps surpass its most profitable month of March 2024? Only time will tell, but one thing is for sure: Bristol Casino is becoming a vital component of the local economic fabric.
And so, whether you’re a casual visitor, an avid gamer, or a local resident, the Bristol Casino continues to offer a destination where excitement and financial benefits go hand-in-hand. Stay tuned as this space keeps evolving, bringing more opportunities and experiences to all who pass through its doors.
