This weekend promises to be packed with excitement as our local athletes take to the courts, mats, and tracks for a jam-packed lineup of games and matches. So, grab your pom-poms and get ready to cheer for our talented teams!

Basketball Showdowns

Let’s kick things off with the boys’ basketball matchups. Get ready for an electrifying clash as the Yorktown Patriots take on the defending Class 6 state champion South Lakes Seahawks. This exhilarating game is set to go down on the road at 7:30 p.m. It’s sure to be a fierce battle, so don’t miss it!

But that’s not all! Other exciting matchups include:

  • Evergreen Christian at Bishop O’Connell at 7 p.m.
  • Potomac School at Bishop O’Connell also at 7 p.m.
  • Yorktown at Herndon at 7:30 p.m.
  • Washington-Liberty at Langley at 7:30 p.m.
  • Marshall at Wakefield at 7:30 p.m.

And don’t forget about the girls! The girls’ basketball teams are ready to showcase their skills as well. The matches include:

  • Elizabeth Seton at Bishop O’Connell at 6 p.m.

Ice Hockey Insights

Love some ice hockey? We’ve got you covered! The boys’ ice hockey teams will also be on the move this weekend. The Yorktown team will be hitting the ice against Broad Run at 9:20 p.m. at the Ashburn Ice House. Meanwhile, Bishop O’Connell faces off against Bullis at 5 p.m. at Rockville Ice Arena, and St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes will challenge Bishop O’Connell at 3:30 p.m. at MedStar Iceplex. Ice, ice, baby!

Wrestling Matches

Wrestling fans, get ready! The wrestling teams are set for a wild weekend as well. Here’s what’s on the slate:

Track & Field and Gymnastics

For those who enjoy watching track and field, don’t miss the indoor meet at Episcopal at 7:30 a.m. Also, the gymnastics teams will be competing with Wakefield heading to Herndon at 5:30 p.m. It’s a busy weekend filled with thrilling action!

Boys and girls from Yorktown and South Lakes are having strong seasons and are expected to be big contenders for district and region championships. This weekend’s sports activities mark a vibrant return to competition for our Arlington high schools after the holiday season.
