Tri-Cities Airport Hikes Daily Parking Rates

Tri-Cities—Travelers planning to use parking facilities at the Tri-Cities Airport will have to dig a little deeper into their pockets effective July 1, as the airport authority announces an increase in daily parking rates.

New Parking Rates

The new parking rates introduced by the Tri-Cities Airport Authority are categorized into three groups. The rate for short-term parking is now set at $16 per day. For long-term parking, customers will have to pay $10 per day, with the same rate also applying to their long-term Express service, which requires payments by credit cards only.

Implications of The New Price Changes

The Tri-Cities Airport Authority has forwarded that the introduction of these new rates will serve as a boost for the future development of the airport. “Parking fees represent a vital means of funding airport operations and maintence without increasing costs to the airlines. This is critical for sustaining and attracting new air service which directly benefits our community. These adjustments will help ensure we can continue to provide the high-level service our passengers expect, while our parking rates remain competitive,” commented Gene Cossey, the President and CEO of Tri-Cities Airport Authority.

This strategic move is a crucial step in garnering necessary funds for future improvements without burdening airlines. It also directs a pathway for attracting new air service, which is anticipated to invigorate the local economy. Furthermore, these adjustments are set to ensure the high level of service that passengers have come to expect from this airport, while keeping the parking rates competitive.

What This Move Means For The Airport

The increase in parking rates is anticipated to have a substantial impact on the airport’s income, boosting the finances available for improvements. The additional revenue will allow the airport to provide enhanced passenger services and infrastructure improvements, thereby improving customer satisfaction and easing any potential financial strain on airlines.

Maintaining competitive parking rates among neighboring airports plays a crucial role in attracting travelers and increasing passenger volumes, which in turn can lead to more flights and improved services. Furthermore, the spare revenue generated from parking services can be reinvested into airport facility upgrades and modernizations, enhancing the overall passenger experience.

Although there’s bound to be some negative feedback from passengers concerning the price hikes, the Airport Authority is confident that the benefits brought by these changes will greatly outweigh the temporary setbacks.
