The Season of Laughter, Pizza, and Fun Set to Begin in Kingsport
As April shines its bright spring sunshine and cheerful blooming flowers prompt smiles, Kingsport is preparing to gift its inhabitants and visitors with endless laughter, fun, and delicious food. The Kingsport Chamber recently unveiled the lineup for BrewHaHa: an evening full of comedy, pizza, and beer. This much-anticipated event will commence at 6 p.m. on April 19 at the MeadowView Marriott Conference Resort & Convention Center.
Meet the Comedians
The spotlight of the evening will be on three headlining comedians: Ryan Cox, Brian Moote, and Mike Speenberg.
A touring stand-up comedian based in Asheville, North Carolina, Ryan Cox has performed along the East Coast, warming up stages for renowned acts like Reggie Watts, Sean Patton, and Jessimae Peluso. Cox is not limited to stage performances; his podcast “Home Planet with Ryan Cox,” which delves into the creative process by engaging with various comedians, musicians, and artists is a popular weekly treat.
Brian Moote started his stand-up career in 2005 while serving as a teacher in Seattle School District. His comedy has earned him appearances on Nickelodeon’s “Nickmom’s Nite Out,” MTV’s “Money from Strangers,” and AXS TV’s “Gotham Live”. Moote’s latest comedy special recently debuted on Dry Bar Comedy.
Comedian Mike Speenberg is no stranger to entertainment, having tour for more than two decades. Entertaining a diverse audience, from Hall of Fame athletes to U.S. diplomats across five different continents, he is experienced and charismatic. He has shared the stage with comedians such as Robin William and Bill Bur, and his stand-up has been featured on America Forces Radio Network and CNN.
A Feast of Pizza and Beer
But comedy isn’t the only draw for the night. The event will be piping with pizzas from multiple local restaurants and pizzerias. Guests will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite, determining the “People’s Choice” pizzeria winner. Among those bringing their pizza A-game are Big Guys Italiano Family Restaurant, Domino’s, Fox’s Pizza Den, Giuseppe’s Italian Restaurant, Luigi Pizza, Mad Greek, Marco’s Pizza, Pizza Hut, Raffaele’s Italian Cuisine, Main Street Pizza Company, and The Meadows.
To wash down the delicious slices, local breweries including Brother’s Brewing, Cherokee Distributing Company, Great Oaks Brewing Company, Holston Distributing Company, Pepsi Bottling Group, Tennessee Hills Brewstillery, and Yee-Haw Brewing Company will be serving a wide range of beverages.
An Event Like No Other
Stephanie Hernandez, Kingsport Chamber membership events director spoke glowingly about the event, detailing how more than 500 people have attended in the past three years. She also shared how BrewHaHa offers something different compared to other Chamber events, “We will have our annual dinner that’s glitz and glamor, and then we also like to have something that’s for our blue collar workers — pizza beer and laughs,” Hernandez said. “You wear your jeans, you wear your t-shirt and you come into the event and you feel comfortable in that.”
